Rachel Paling - Neurolanguage Coaching and Learner Autonomy (35 mins) Using principles of neuroscience in practical steps plus professional coaching principles, structure, and brain-friendly coaching conversations educators can really harness, foster and promote learner autonomy. Empowering learners really propels any learning process, leading to potentially faster and more effective ways of learning. This talk will bring some insights into how to really assist learners to take the reins in their learning process. 4. George Kokolas - Read and Let the Others Study (50 mins)

Many generations of students were raised with the motto “You have to read a lot.It’s good for you”. Nowadays, educators, academics, and teachers always add extra reading materials and programs to curriculums, with the objective of exposing students to more language input and the hope of boosting their language skills. However, we tend to forget that when it comes down to reading, it's not about the quantity but the books that we really like to read.

Book-worms do not simply devour as many books as they can but as many books they freely choose and like. The speaker will try to define some of the main reasons that influence our students' reading choices and how we can focus on them so as to make them read more. Special emphasis will be given on the reading choices of the new generations and why non-fiction/CLIL readers may be more suitable for the students of today. A general overview of the benefits of extensive reading will also be made.
